Movie: One for the Money

(you can see they tried to darken her hair and tan her, but she needed to be way more tan and they could have made her hair even darker)

I watched this the other day at work. My boss needed a break so we did lunch at hte movies. I love days like that. But I honestly was not interested in seeing this movie in the theatres. The thing is I am a huge HUGE Janet Evanovich (author) fan. I love love love the stephanie plum novels and was incredibly critical of this movie. The thing is after reading 17 out of the 18 novels written, I had envisioned what the characters might look like. When I saw the previews and saw that Katherine Heigl was playing Stephanie, I felt that was disappointing.  I actually like her as an actress but I see her as a white blonde girl. The character is from Jersey and I felt she needed to be darker, definitely far more tan than Katherine is. in the previews it looked like they barely darkened her hair too. Plus I felt like the casting of the Ranger and Morelli characters were not the best. See they are supposed to be incredibly good looking and I felt like they might be a let down in the movie.

Now going into the movie expecting to not love it, I was super impressed. I really liked the movie and actually see myself watching it over and over again. Katherine nailed the character. Also while reading the book I find myself attracted to Ranger but in the movie the character just isnt as intense. This is partially because it is easier to express Stephanie's attraction to Ranger in the book because it describes her feelings. also I kinda really like the guy who played Morelli in the movie. I did feel like the Lula character could have been cast better. She is supposed to be a big larger than life black woman. She is supposed to be large but not fat or chubby. I think that Queen Latifah would have been a better choice because she looks big but smooth at the same time. Although I did see a movie with Queen lately and noticed she lost weight, so this might be why she wasn't chosen. Ultimately I am super pleased with this movie and considering my opposition to it, I am quite happy.
